Artist

Francesco Maccapani Missoni

is an Italian artist whose work transforms colour, structure and material into a distinct contemporary visual language. Raised within the Missoni family’s world of textiles, pattern and craft, he distils this heritage into a radically reduced, uniquely modern artistic form.

Francesco Maccapani Missoni weaves coloured paper and satin ribbons into dense, hand-crafted surfaces which he then meticulously lacquers. The result is neither painting nor textile, but a woven field of colour: architecturally structured, rhythmically composed and quietly vibrant. His background in architecture informs the clarity, balance and constructive precision of his compositions.

Since 2021, Francesco Maccapani Missoni has exhibited internationally — including Istanbul, Miami, Milan, São Paulo, St. Moritz and Milan-Malpensa Airport.
In 2023 he was named Designer of the Year at São Paulo Design Week. In 2025 he received further international recognition: the furniture collection Pentagramma, created in collaboration with Tidelli, was awarded the ICONIC Design Award 2025. With innovative braiding techniques and re-engineered nautical ropes, the collection seamlessly merges art, design and nature — bringing Missoni’s creative identity into the realm of contemporary design.

Francesco Maccapani Missoni represents a new generation of artists who translate traditional craftsmanship into a calm, precise and unmistakably contemporary form. His works merge heritage and minimalism — richly coloured, architecturally composed and instantly recognisable.
