Rudi Benétik

Rudi Benétik was born on 16 February 1960, as the first-born of fou children in the working-class family of Romana and Franz Benetik in the bilingual village of Jaunstein/Podjuna in southern Carinthia, Austria. From 1981nto 1985 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana with Andrej Jemec, Gustav Gnamuš and Bogdan Borcic. He attended the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg severals times: in 1982 he studied etching with Rudolf Hradil, in 1983 he studied sculpture with Markus Lüpertz, and in 1984 he studied scenography with Otto Piene. Benétik has been inspired by numerous extended study trips to countries such as Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Libia, Myanmar, Nepal, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey, and the USA.

His works can be found in the collections of renowned galleries and museums throughout Europe.
He lives and works in Jaunstein and in Madruzzo in Northern Italy.

Till 2024 Rudi Bentik has already had over 70 international solo exhibitions, more than 60 group exhibitions and won 7 art prizes. His works are represented in 33 collections from the USA to South Korea.
