WoMankind explores the body, visibility and the freedom to decide how we are seen. Tamara Riedel and Sussi Hodel approach this question from very different directions.
Tamara Riedel brings intimacy into the room with an uncompromising physical presence. Her works make corporeality, sensuality and materiality impossible to overlook. In Erotic Pleasure, an intimate bodily reference becomes monumental, raising questions around pleasure, perception and how female sexuality can be made visible without reducing the body to a passive object.
Sussi Hodel explores visibility as a personal choice. In her paper-bag paintings, the face withdraws from immediate identification. The bag becomes a temporary space of retreat, while posture, proximity, distance and touch carry the emotional narrative.
In her new series Zeitlose Sinnlichkeit, this movement is reversed. Mature women deliberately choose visibility: confident, sensual and fully present, not despite their age but entirely at ease within it.
Together, the works ask a simple question:
Who decides how much of ourselves becomes visible?
What we show. What we keep.
The freedom is in choosing.
