WoMankind is an exhibition about the body, visibility, desire and the freedom to decide for oneself what is shown and what remains private.
Between the right to reveal oneself and the right to withhold, the exhibition asks: Who gets to decide how a person is seen?
Tamara Riedel’s central work “Erotic Pleasure” is an oversized sculpture of a female breast – bodily, sensual, autonomous and physically present in space.
Sussi Hodel works with visibility, concealment, identity and body image. In her Paper-Bag paintings, bodies remain visible while faces are hidden. Another series focuses on mature women and asks why sensuality should have an expiry date at all.
Not everything becomes visible at once.
Some things are shown. Some things are kept.
Between visibility and privacy lies freedom.
